Gardening education for real beginners
You don't need a green thumb.
Just a place to start.
Gardening doesn't have to be complicated. Learn at your own pace, get guidance when you need it, and grow alongside a community that started exactly where you are.
No experience needed. No jargon. Just your next small step.
Who this is for
Built for gardeners who keep putting it off because they don't know where to begin.
If you're starting from zero
You've bought plants that didn't make it, or you've never bought one at all. Rooted & Still begins with what's actually worth knowing first — not a botanical index.
If you're too busy to keep up
Short, focused lessons you can finish in ten minutes. Seasonal reminders so you're not guessing. A slow pace built for real life, not a homesteading hobby.
If you want people, not just content
A place to share what's sprouting and ask what went wrong. Gardening is learned through seasons of doing it — with others who understand that.
Rooted & Still was built because most gardening content assumes you already know what you're doing. We write for people who are curious, a little intimidated, and ready to try anyway. There are no test scores here. Only seasons.
Three pillars
Learn without overwhelm. Grow with guidance. Find your people.
Learn without overwhelm
Short lessons built around what actually matters when you're starting out. Each one ends with a single next action — not a reading list. We sequence the content so you don't have to figure out what to learn first.
- Beginner-first, jargon-free lessons
- Organized by season, plant type, and skill level
- Each lesson completable in ten minutes or less
Grow with guidance
Gardening is local. What works in Louisiana won't work in Minnesota in March. Personalized next steps account for your climate, your space, and the season you're actually in. You ask a question; you get a real answer.
- Seasonal reminders tailored to your region
- Personalized next-step suggestions as you progress
- Ask questions in community; get answers from people who've been there
Find your people
Gardening is easier when you're not doing it alone. Share what's coming up in your beds, ask what happened to your tomatoes, and follow along as other members navigate the same seasons you are.
- Community spaces organized by season and interest
- A welcoming space where no question is too basic
- Share photos, victories, and honest mistakes
What you get
Everything a new gardener actually needs. Nothing you don't.
We've designed Rooted & Still around what beginners ask for most: clear starting points, honest answers, and a community that doesn't make you feel behind.
Curated beginner lessons
Short, focused lessons covering soil, seeds, timing, watering, and seasonal care — sequenced to build on each other, not overwhelm you all at once.
Seasonal reminders and guides
Know what to do and when to do it. Seasonal guides are organized by growing zone so your timing is always right for where you actually are.
A real community to ask
Post a question, share a photo, follow a thread. This is an active space of gardeners who have been exactly where you are and want to help.
Personalized next steps
As you move through lessons and seasons, guidance adapts to where you are — not a generic checklist, but what makes sense for your space and pace.

Common questions
Questions we hear from beginners
Do I need any gardening experience to join?
None whatsoever. Rooted & Still is built specifically for people who are starting from zero — the lessons begin at the very beginning and build from there. If you have killed every plant you have ever owned, you are exactly who we had in mind.
How much time do I need each week?
As much or as little as you have. Lessons are short and focused — most take ten minutes or less. You can move at your own pace. There is no schedule to keep up with, no cohort to fall behind. The community is there whenever you have a question.
What if I only have a small balcony or patio?
Container gardening, vertical planters, window boxes — small spaces are fully covered. Many of our members start in apartments or rentals. You do not need a yard to grow something.
What is the difference between free access and membership?
Free gives you a genuine starting point: introductory lessons, the seasonal tips newsletter, and the ability to read community threads. Membership unlocks the full lesson library, active community participation, personalized guidance, and regional planting calendars. Membership pricing will be announced before launch — join the list to hear first.
I have tried to garden before and it didn't go well. Why would this be different?
Most gardening content is written for people who already know the basics — which means beginners end up guessing at the parts that matter most: timing, watering, soil preparation. Rooted & Still fills that gap. We write for people who are starting over, not catching up.
When does full access launch?
We are building the platform now. Join the waitlist to receive free seasonal tips right away, and to be notified when full membership opens. Early waitlist members will have the chance to provide feedback and help shape what we build.
